# Point Cloud Import

> Import LAS, LAZ, and PLY scans into the catalog or an environment.

<Note>This page is a stub and has not been reviewed.</Note>

Import **LAS**, **LAZ**, or point-only **PLY** scans. Cyberwave reports the point
count, bounds, colour depth, and available CRS text, then prepares the cloud for
the 3D viewer.

## Uploading

Use **Upload asset** to add a reusable catalog scan, or **Import scan or splat**
inside an environment to place it there. Direct uploads support files up to 32 MB;
larger files upload through the attachment flow and may continue processing in the
background.

LAS, LAZ, and PLY scans all get the same normalization and measured point radius.
A PLY that contains Gaussian splat data is recognised and kept as a splat, so
uploading one never flattens it.

## Alignment

Scans are interpreted as metres and Z-up when their metadata does not say
otherwise. Set units or choose Y-up when needed. Large georeferenced scans are
recentred automatically and retain their offset in the import report.

An imported scan is not automatically aligned with an environment unless it came
from a Cyberwave environment export. Use the normal scene transform controls to
register it before using it for environment-frame work.
