Some twins are there to be seen, not to be hit — a floor marking, a reference model, a piece of scenery a robot is meant to drive straight over. Disable collision makes a twin non-solid while keeping it fully visible.

Where to set it

Select the twin in the environment editor, open the Appearance section, and turn on Disable collision. The summary chips above the section show Collision off while it is set.

What changes

  • The visual mesh still renders. Disabling collision never hides the twin.
  • Other twins pass through it in the editor’s physics preview.
  • Exported simulation scenes agree. The twin’s collision shapes are still exported, but they take part in no contact, so nothing collides with it in MuJoCo either.

Things worth knowing

  • This is per twin, not per asset. Two twins of the same asset can differ; the catalog asset is unchanged.
  • It is not a fix for a bad collision mesh. If a twin blocks more space than its shape suggests, the cause is usually a coarse collision shape in the asset. Disabling collision hides that rather than correcting it — prefer fixing the asset’s collision geometry when other objects need to interact with it at all.
  • It is independent of Fixed base. Fixed base decides whether a twin moves under physics; disable collision decides whether anything can touch it.
  • A free-base twin with collisions off falls through the floor. Nothing can stop it, including the ground. Use it on fixed-base twins, or on twins whose pose is driven rather than simulated.
